LFX-OAB™ Oil Absorbent Filter Bags

FiltraCore Asia’s LFX-OAB™ oil-absorbent filter bags are engineered for the selective removal of free and non-emulsified hydrocarbons from contaminated liquid streams, combining oil absorption and particulate support filtration within a single bag filter format. Manufactured using polypropylene oil-absorbent microfibre media integrated into a depth-filtration felt matrix, these filter bags are designed to capture free oil, surface sheen, dispersed oil droplets, and trace hydrocarbon residues that conventional particulate-only filter bags are not intended to address.

The absorbent depth media provides high hydrocarbon holding capacity, broad compatibility with industrial fluids, and stable performance in applications including industrial wastewater treatment, CNC coolant recovery, process-water polishing, and upstream oil-water separation systems. A fully moulded polypropylene collar ensures secure, leak-free installation, minimises bypass, and supports consistent oil-absorption performance under varying flow rates and contamination loads.

Technical Specifications
  • Material: Polypropylene oil-absorbent microfibre layers integrated within a polypropylene depth-filtration felt matrix, designed for simultaneous hydrocarbon absorption and particulate filtration. Optional multilayer polypropylene (MLPP) construction incorporating gradient-density depth layers and a spunbond cover for enhanced media stability. Optional oil-absorption inserts available for Size #02 filter bags to increase hydrocarbon holding capacity
  • Micron ratings: Support-layer particulate ratings 10–100 µm (common grades: 10, 25, 50 µm). Finer ratings (≤10 µm) available by special order; coarser ratings available on request.
(Micron rating applies to the particulate filtration layer; oil-absorption performance is independent of micron rating.)
  • Media weight (felt): Typically 350–500 gsm for single-layer constructions; 600–900 gsm for multilayer (MLPP) depth-loading designs
  • Operating temperature limits: Polypropylene media: up to 90 °C continuous; short-term excursions to 100 °C may be permissible depending on fluid chemistry, residence time, and system pressure.
Applications
  • Petrochemical & refinery wastewater — polishing of non-emulsified hydrocarbons in oily water streams prior to reuse or downstream treatment; final discharge compliance subject to site permits and system design
  • Marine bilge & ballast water — pre-treatment upstream of the OWS to capture free oil and surface sheen in accordance with IMO MEPC.107(49) system architectures; not a stand-alone compliance device
  • Metalworking fluids & coolant recovery — reduction of tramp oil and suspended solids to extend coolant service life and support stable machining performance
  • Food & beverage effluent pre-treatment — interception of non-contact oil residues in wash and process drains prior to biological or physico-chemical treatment stages
  • Industrial wastewater treatment plants — primary-stage removal of free oil/grease to protect downstream coalescers, adsorbers, membranes, and polishing steps
  • Power & utility water systems — treatment of oily condensate and wash water to minimise fouling of downstream membranes and heat-exchange equipment
